Festival Report: The TriMedia Festival

Held August 25 through 27 in Fort Collins, Colorado, the 1st Annual TriMedia Festival brought the visual arts to Northern Colorado. Featuring Film, Television, and Theatre entries, the festival had a little something for everyone.

Focusing on the community as the target audience, fest planners chose entries within a PG-13 guideline with a few entries pushing that envelope. Film and Television screenings were also presented in “blocks” by topic, allowing audiences to attend areas of interest.

Festival Co-Director Francie Meyer Glycenfer stated that the fest took 18 months from initial planning to festival weekend. Screenings and performances consisted of invited participants and items chosen from 40 submissions.

A pleasant surprise for a first-time fest was the number of film and theatre professionals who attended with their projects and made themselves available for Q&A sessions after performances.

While there were a few administrative hiccups on Saturday morning, the fest on the whole was run very professionally and should be a real winner as it expands in participation and content in the coming years.
